Holiday Happenings in Westport, WA

The holiday season is here, and there’s no better place to spend it than Westport!

With the Marina all gussied up from November’s Deck the Docks event, the crabpot tree, and the Maritime Museum sparkling as well, Westport is the perfect spot for holiday events and shopping. Take a look at just a few things to do this holiday season:

Santa-by-the-Sea, December 6th

Meet at the Marina at 10:30 a.m.—that’s where the U.S. Coast Guard will deliver Santa to Westport for a visit to the Maritime Museum and photos. It’s the perfect time for your kids to let Santa know what they want for Christmas in person rather than sending him an impersonal email or text.

This moment at the marina is unlike any other experience with Santa—one that certainly couldn’t happen at a mall or in the middle of a big city.

Be sure to bring your camera, wear water-and-wind-resistant outerwear, and plan to get there a bit early to grab a good spot to view Santa’s arrival.

Brought to you by the Westport Maritime Museum, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Westport RFA.

Wreath-making Class at McCausland Hall, Dec. 12-14

Want to learn to make a holiday wreath? This is your opportunity! Fresh-cut greenery, bows, and other materials are provided; all you have to bring is your creativity. (Pro tip: If you’re all crafted out, the pros from the Fisherman’s Memorial team can make one for you.)

A Day With Santa, December 13, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Join the South Beach Regional Fire Authority for A Day with Santa at the Grayland Fire Hall, 1785 WA State Route 105. Bring your cell phones and take a selfie with Santa while snacking on Christmas cookies, hot cocoa, and cider.

Grayland Holiday Weekend Bazaar, December 13-14, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Just 20 minutes south of Westport, you’ll find the town of Tokeland and a Holiday Bazaar to remember! Featuring local vendors with handmade items, delicious baked goods, and even a gingerbread house contest! Arrive with your gift list and bring the kids! Santa will make an appearance from 11-3 Saturday and Sunday. (How can Santa be at two places at once on the 13th? HE’S MAGIC, Y’ALL!) You’ll find the bazaar at 4117 WA-105 in Tokeland.

Westport New Year’s Eve Fireworks, 9 p.m.

Join us at the Westport Marina for the most festive way to ring in the new year: a colossal fireworks display! Wear lots of layers, grab your spot early, and consider bringing something warm in a thermos. There’s nothing like watching the fireworks reflected in the marina as the sea mist hits your face on a cold winter night.

Shopping, shopping, shopping!

If you’re looking for authentic, unique holiday gifts for your whole family, Westport’s shops are full of treasures just waiting to be discovered. Housewares, decor, clothing, antiques…you’ll find something wonderful, even for that one friend who’s always been kind of persnickity about gifts. Check out Tides & Anchors Boutique, Junk Queens Tackle Box, Basket House, and Pomegrante (pictured) for gifts that will make you a holiday hero!

And if you’re looking for something for the outdoorsman or outdoorswoman in your life, there’s plenty of gear at Englund Marine Supply, Hookers & Blow (fishing and kite supplies!) and surfing gear at the Surf Shop and Sleepwater Surf Shop.

Searching for sweet stocking stuffers

Westport’s gift shops are known for their sweets - you can find delicious housemade fudge, saltwater taffy and delectable chocolates at Seabird Gift & Candy, as well as Granny Hazel’s Candy & Gifts. Also, holiday shopping is taxing…you could use a little treat to keep your energy up.

Eat, Santa. Eat!

Speaking of keeping your energy up, at some point you’re going to have to stop and refuel. You’ll find delicious, fresh seafood at most of Westport’s restaurants to help keep you strong and satiated in your quest for the perfect gift.

Spending the holiday season in Westport just hits different for one simple reason: it actually feels like a break. You’re not circling mall parking lots or dodging big crowds. You’re wandering quiet beaches, watching storms roll in, and sipping something warm while you watch the waves lap against the boats in the marina. And the best part is, you’re picking up gifts from actual humans instead of wandering warehouse aisles—supporting small businesses and families who have been in Westport sometimes for generations. The pace is slower and the holiday magic isn’t manufactured in a corporate conference room—it’s real and human and truly heartwarming.
